Newsletter of the Albright Church Capital Stewardship Campaign

September 22, 2019 | vol. 1

“For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building.”

1 Corinthians 3:9

We here at Albright are being stirred.  We are now directly part of a residential community and have a fantastic opportunity to interact with that community by using our facilities and property.  The leadership at Albright is also sensing that God is at work in an exciting way in this body of

believers, and we want to be proactive in making room for growth in, and ministry to, that body and the people it interacts with on a daily basis.  We are convinced that God is moving us to proceed with the second phase in our site plan, to provide the space for continued growth and ministry.  Therefore, we are now beginning our “We Surrender, God Builds” Capital Stewardship Campaign.

“We Surrender, God Builds” is a fitting slogan for our campaign.  God has called all of us, as His followers and as a part of Albright, to surrender to Him with everything that we have and to share in the ministry of our church, and He will build us up, transforming us both as believers and as the body of Christ.  We simply have to be willing to surrender to what God desires to build in and through us.  Our goal is not to build a bigger facility for the sake of physical appearance, but rather, our desire and vision is to serve our community and provide space for ministry to occur in an effective manner.  We do all this for the glory of God.

This is the first in a series of six newsletters.  As a part of Albright, you will want to read each one carefully to keep yourself fully informed.  Over the next 6 weeks, we will be challenging every household to be in surrendered prayer about what commitment the Lord would have them make towards our building expansion.

Serious discussion about our future plans for expansion began in 2013 when the Elders established the Next Steps Team to research various options for fulfilling the anticipated needs of a growing congregation.  Several factors drove the need for this discussion to begin:

- Plans were being put in place for Countryside Crossing.

- An announcement was made to shut down DeVries.

- We were experiencing continued growth in our Sunday attendance.

- Our space was being utilized to its maximum capacity.

The new residential development, and future change of the access to our south, required us to take a serious look at how to turn what had been our backyard into our front yard.

The Design Team was established subsequently to work with an architect to develop the long-term vision for our property.  Starting in 2014, and through many conversations with Albright stakeholders and various Family Chats in 2015, the Design Team and Verne Reimer Architecture developed a site plan for our property based on vision.  At the Annual Business Meeting in June 2015, the final site plan was accepted by the membership.

Our current facility has served us very well over the past 25 years.  We have grown and have effectively maxed out its capacity.  So now we need to proceed with the next phase in our site plan, which is to expand our existing building.  We are very excited about this design!  We believe it addresses the challenge of having our backyard changed to our front yard, of needing more diverse meeting spaces and a permanent youth room, it allows for growth in the foreseeable future, and physically prepares the building for future expansions.  We encourage you to view the design plans on the wall by the prayer room.

Church Banquet

To remember our past, celebrate our present, and inspire our future, a “We Surrender, God Gives” Banquet will be catered here at Albright on Friday, October 25 at 6:30 pmAll individuals, Grade 6 and over, are invited.  This advance notice gives you just over one month to make arrangements to be in attendance.  You are urged to mark your calendars now and commit to attending this important event in the life of our church!  Tickets will be available the beginning of October.

Campaign Objective

Our goal is to raise $750,000 in 3 years for our building expansion.  It is important to note that this amount of capital is required before we can begin expanding.  Further information regarding your involvement in this campaign will be given in future newsletters over the next weeks.  Again, we encourage you to read each “We Surrender, God Builds” newsletter very carefully.

At times like these, we need to know the will of God for us.  Although God’s purpose for all of us is the same, He has distinct plans for, and has specifically equipped, each one of us.  God also has special plans for us as Albright Church.  It is through prayer that God will confirm within our hearts and minds the course we should follow, and the actions we should take.

We urge you to join us in praying for our “We Surrender, God Builds” campaign.  Please pray faithfully:

1. That we, as Albright Church, will follow what God is calling us to do.

2. For the spiritual growth of each person at Albright.

3. For a deeper commitment and involvement from each person at Albright.

4. That God will show you what He has for you, and what He’s asking you to do in obedience to Him.

5. For a successful Capital Stewardship Campaign.

“We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will

and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding.

Then the way you live will always honour and please the Lord,

and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit.

All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better.”
