Our Staff Team
Sam Devine - Lead Pastor
phone: 204-334-5873 ext 228
Sam Devine serves on the Albright team as our new Lead Pastor. Originally from Ireland, Sam made the move to Canada with his wife Judith and their two sons, in April 2010. They have enjoyed the adventure of adjusting to life in Winnipeg and believe that God has brought them here for His purposes. Sam originally worked in a University laboratory in Belfast before studying and training for the ministry, and he has since served as a Youth Pastor in Belfast, Church Planter in Donegal and Pastor in Limerick.
Sam's passion is to see people begin their journey of faith in God, to belong to a caring church community, and to become the person God has created them to be. Part of his responsibility at Albright is to lead the process that helps people move along the pathway of grace, wherever they find themselves. Sam comments, "I believe Church should be a place where people can be accepted by grace and freed by truth."
Sam enjoys most sports especially soccer, tennis, pool and swimming. Those interests now include hockey and baseball! Walking, watching a movie or reading in one of the local coffee shops are some other ways he likes to relax. If you would like to chat with Sam drop by the office, or meet him for some freshly brewed coffee!
Nathan Wachal – Associate Pastor, Community Initiatives & Worship Arts
phone: 204-334-5873 ext 227
Although Nathan is the newest member of our staff team, he has been serving in Albright’s worship ministry for several years as a musician, music team leader, and interim Worship Director. He is very grateful for the investment that the community at Albright has made in his life which has developed in him a deep longing to seek God and lead others in worship.
Nathan is a graduate of Providence Bible College with a BA majoring in Worship Studies. It is his passion to grow a deeper heart for worship and service that is not only active on Sunday mornings, but also invades all areas of life. It’s his joy to see people learn to worship and serve God through the gifts and abilities they possess, to build strong community relationships, and to grow in serving others – whether it is at their doorstep, throughout our city, or around the world. He’s committed to help develop evident spiritual gifts through teaching, mentoring, and serving alongside of others; all of this to the glory and praise of our great God who is worthy of our best efforts
At home, Nathan and his wife Caitlin are blessed with the joy of their son James and daughter Emerson.
Lorna Woroniak - Church Administrator
phone: 204-334-5873 ext 222
Albright is a big part of Lorna's family heritage, having grown up in the church. She has been on staff since 1993, working in the church office as church secretary and as Church Administrator. Lorna is one of the 'cheery voices on the other end of the phone', part of the team serving the needs of the congregation and providing information and resources to the community.
Lorna's main role at Albright is to manage the church's physical and financial resources. A variety of daily tasks are a necessary part of keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes.
Although 'business' describes her role, she enjoys having fun too—both in and out of the office! Singing, reading and vacationing recharge her batteries!
Cameron Asman - Interim Youth Ministry Director
For many years now Cameron has had a great desire to serve God through a pastoral role. Little did he know that he would be serving God through the church community that he has been a part of since he first started breathing. Cameron's desire is to see youth (or anyone for that matter) step out of their comfortability; cultivate a lifestyle centred around worshipping Jesus, and to discover the adventures that God has for them. Cameron is always open to joining with people, who are ready to explore challenging questions, wonder about our Creator with curiosity, and wrestle with the greatest of doubts.
Cameron is also involved with ministries in the inner-city of Winnipeg as well as various Reservations in Canada. Cameron has also recently graduated from Providence College and University with a Bachelor of Theology where he learned more than he ever imagined but ultimately learned that he doesn't know much at all.
Cameron likes to go hiking, getting into mischief, reading, writing, battling it out with a dodgeball, throwing around the ol' frisbee, and is always ready to experience new things.
Cheryl Goings – Children's Ministry Director
phone: 204-334-5873 ext 226
Cheryl's role as Children's Ministry Director is to provide direction and leadership to all the programs for children from birth to grade 6. Helping youth and adults find their place on the ministry team is a significant part of her job. Her passion is to see children become more aware of who God is and grow in their relationship with Him, and to be an encourager for parents in their role of spiritual nurturers.
Cheryl and her husband Brian are ‘empty-nesters’ most of the time but thoroughly enjoy time spent with their grown ‘kids’ and grandkids!
Andrea Wachal - Administrative Assistant
phone: 204-334-5873 ext 0
Andrea (who doesn't mind if you call her Andie) joined our staff team in 2013 in the part-time role of Administrative Assistant. As another one of the 'cheery voices on the other end of the phone' she provides the first line of contact with the church office, staff and ministries. In addition to providing administrative support to staff and volunteers, her role includes preparing communication materials and resources to keep the church community informed and up to date.
Andie and her husband Matt enjoy time spent with their children Liam and Hannah, as well as family vacations and time at the cabin. To relax she enjoys sewing blankets, doing puzzles and reading, but is full of energy when cheering on the Jets!
Doris Plamondon – Church Custodian
phone: 204-334-5873 ext 0
'Whatever you do, do it as if you were doing it for the Lord'—and that can include emptying trash cans!! Doris has been serving the Albright community by emptying trash cans--and much more—in her role as Janitor of the facility since 1997. While keeping the building clean, her cheerful smile, listening ear, and words of wisdom are a regular source of encouragement for staff! Life at Albright (especially staff meetings & coffee breaks) just isn’t the same without Doris!
Doris and her husband John have a family of 4 adult children. They are enjoying the “empty-nest” lifestyle, dining out, vacationing when possible, and spoiling their grandchildren.
