Our Team
Alan Shantz - Lead Pastor
alanshantz@albrightchurch.com
Alan Shantz has been Lead Pastor at Albright since March 2008. For more than 25 years he served several Southern Ontario congregations as Lead Pastor or Teaching Pastor before moving to Winnipeg. He is a graduate of Emmanuel Bible College (B.Th.) in Kitchener Ontario and Canadian Theological Seminary in Regina Saskatchewan (M.Div). Nothing makes his heart beat faster than seeing lives impacted by the love of God and radically transformed by His indescribable love.
Alan's teaching and leadership at Albright reveal this passion as he brings focus to the overall ministry and provides teaching that is both bold and grace-filled. He accepts people where they are in their spiritual journey while striving to inspire them to find the satisfying and adventure-filled life that is only available to those who are 100% devoted to God.
Alan and his wife Cindy have two adult sons and a daughter-in-law who are actively serving God in ways consistent with their passions and spiritual gifts. If you don't see Alan in his office studying or meeting with someone, he is most likely walking in a park with his wife, riding the open road on his motorcycle or officiating a hockey game.
We are happy to welcome Tim Hooper to the ministry team at Albright. Serving as Interim Youth Director, Tim is responsible to give leadership to our Youth Ministry. He brings with him an extensive background of more than 18 years of working with youth in church ministry, the education system, and community involvement.
Tim has a strong desire to see students know and experience the power of God. Building on what God has already accomplished, Tim is working to further develop spiritual growth in the lives of students through teaching and leadership development, as well as planning the great youth activities and events that go on during the year.
Tim and his wife, Monika, are having fun parenting their three children. You can contact Tim by calling the church office at 334-5873.
Cheryl Goings – Children's Ministry Director
cherylgoings@albrightchurch.com
Cheryl Goings' role as Children's Ministries' Director is to provide direction and leadership to all the programs for children from birth to grade 6. Part of her job is to develop teams of youth and adults for this ministry but she won't be far from the kids herself—‘high-five-ing' them as they enter the church, admiring a new baby, talking with a preschooler, or leading some portion of the kids' service! Her passion is to see children become more aware of who God is and grow in their relationship with Him and to enable others to find their place on the team.
Cheryl and her husband Brian enjoy family times with their kids and grandkids. Each member of the family contributes to the family's musical heritage—singing or playing an instrument. They'll likely never become a traveling family musical group but they enjoy "making a joyful noise to the Lord"!
Lorna Woroniak - Church Administrator
lornaworoniak@albrightchurch.com
Albright is a big part of Lorna's family heritage, having grown up in the church. She has been on staff since 1993, working in the general office as church secretary and as Church Administrator. Lorna is one of the 'cheery voices on the other end of the phone', part of the team serving the needs of the congregation and providing information and resources to the community.
Lorna's main role at Albright is to manage the church's physical and financial resources. Her variety of daily tasks are a necessary part of keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes. Although 'business' describes her role, she enjoys having fun too—both in and out of the office! Singing, reading and vacationing recharge her batteries!
Linda Kimball - Receptionist & Pastor’s Assistant
lindakimball@albrightchurch.com
Linda began working in the office on a part-time basis in November of 2006. She is responsible for providing ministry support as needed to the leadership and staff at Albright Church, and is also one of the 'cheery voices on the other end of the phone'!
Linda, her husband Paul, and their 3 children, Alana, Brad and Candace have been attending Albright since 1999, and feel blessed to be a part of the Albright family. Linda's favorite past-time is gardening and on her days off can be found out in their yard, no matter how bad the mosquitoes are!
Mary-Ann Roy - Counselling Ministry Director
counselling@albrightchurch.com
As a professional Christian counsellor in practice since 1990 and an approved Association (PACCC) supervisor, Mary-Ann is responsible for the development and direction of Counselling Ministries. She brings with her a wealth of experience in the areas of implementation and facilitation of support and recovery groups as well as individual, couple and family counselling. She has also felt the call on her life to work with First Nations people with Health Canada, First Nations and Inuit Health Branch, as therapist, and when available, does Critical Incident work. Mary-Ann is passionate about the work God has gifted her with and has a desire for Counselling Ministries to become a healing ministry for everyone seeking help through its programs.
Mary-Ann and her husband of over 30 years, George, attend Albright; they have four children, 2 sons-in-law and two adorable grandchildren. Mary-Ann also has an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts and, when she can squeeze in the time, expresses her creativity in the visual arts through her art work.
Paul Kimball – Worship Ministry Director
paulkimball@albrightchurch.com
Paul has been the Director of Worship Ministries since April 2004, and has thoroughly enjoyed the privilege of serving Christ and the Church in this position. Paul believes worship is a wonderful response from God's people to God, and to have a hand in helping our Church in this response is a great way to serve God. He is glad that Worship is an everlasting activity, and gets excited when he realizes that we are just getting our feet wet in worshipping God. What will it be like to worship Him in heaven?
Paul is married to Linda, and they have three great children, Alana, Brad & Candace. They also have four cats and one dog sharing their home. Paul and his family, with the exception of the pets, have been attending Albright since 1999, so they are in their 2nd millennium with the Church!
Doris Plamondon – Church Custodian
'Whatever you do, do it as if you were doing it for the Lord'—and that can include emptying trash cans!! Doris Plamondon has been serving the Albright community by emptying trash cans--and much more—in her role as Janitor of the facility since 1997. While keeping the building clean, her cheerful smile, listening ear, and words of wisdom are a regular source of encouragement for staff! To see some of Doris' published 'words of wisdom' just look for cleaning or 'user' instructions posted throughout the church (including washrooms)! Life at Albright (especially staff meetings & coffee breaks) just aren't the same without Doris!
Doris and her husband John have a family of 4 adult children. They are enjoying the “empty-nest” lifestyle, dining out, vacationing when possible, and spoiling their grandchildren.
