February 20, 2013

It was announced at the Albright Church Annual Business Meeting on June 26, 2012, that Albright Church was entering into a new era of its mission outreach. We were entering into a long-term relationship with a church and the village of Gens de Nantes, Haiti. Our denomination, the Evangelical Missionary Church of Canada (or EMCC), has been working in Haiti, and Gens de Nantes specifically, for many years. The leadership of Albright and the EMCC felt that the needs of this remote village in Haiti fit right in with the heart and resources of Albright Church. We are looking forward to years of developing relationships with people from Pastor Andre's church (whose denomination is the Association des Eglises Missionaires, the in-country partner of the EMCC) as well as the rest of the community of Gens de Nantes.

In November 2012, I had the privilege of taking part in an EMCC V-Team (Volunteer Team) that went to Gens de Nantes, from southern Ontario. I had the opportunity to meet many of the people that we will be working alongside of, and ministering to. The people of Gens de Nantes are wonderful people. Their needs are great, but they also have a lot to offer us as we get to know them.

Now we are poised to send two teams. The first one leaves on February 28, 2013 and returns on March 10, 2013. This team (V-Team #727 or "Clinic Team") will be focusing on helping in the medical clinic in Gens de Nantes. The other team will be going from March 21-April 2, 2013. This team (V-Team #728 or "Homes Team") will be helping to construct homes that Albright Church raised funds for in the fall of 2012. Over $56,000 were raised to build termite, hurricane and earthquake resistant homes for some families in Gens de Nantes and surrounding villages. We hope to pay for at least 6 homes with these funds.

We have set up this blog so the various teams, that we will have the privilege of sending to Gens de Nantes in the upcoming years, have the opportunity to share their experiences with the larger community.

I hope you enjoy the various posts that will be forthcoming.

I am very excited to see where God takes us as we step out in faith, working for His Kingdom in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and now in Gens de Nantes, Haiti.

Praying for the clinic team as they make there last minute preparations. God has already blessed you, and is going to bless the families in our adopted church in Gens de Nantes. Praying for uneventful and safe travels, that all the luggage and supplies you are taking with you will arrive with you intact and that you will arrive rested and ready to bless the folks there. Love you all and very proud of each and everyone of you!

Just finished a complete set of curtains and drapes to complete one home. This weekend Fabric land has everything 50% off (even clearance prices)I want to challenge others to dig out there sewing machines and make a curtain or two. I have the measurments and instructions. Feel free to contact me and maybe we can bring some more joy into another families home.

Praying for the Medical team as they head out today, God Bless them with good health, safe travels and great joy in the ministry they are embarking on. God with God!
